Just thought I would admit to owning an 88 924S with the 756 code.

Car is needing some major work.

I wonder what the market value on this model is?

I've seen three beside yours and one was 180K for 2800, 90K for 3500, and mine.

I've never seen one for sale on ebay or anywhere before so no telling. The Master Porsche Technician that works on my car and has been involved with Porsches all his life says mine should bring $8500. It will appear, with picture, in a regional trade newspaper starting Tuesday.
I'll let you know if it sells and for how much.

Bob: Can you tell us what the 756 code is, in case I come across one. What were the options included/deleted. Just curious. Thanks.

Bob probably has some additional information but from what I've read, here's the scoop. There were 980 of the SE's produced for the 88 model year. These were/are known as the "Lemans" model and 500 of these came to the US, all in black. They had special "lustrous black paint", deletion of some options, such as power windows, mirrows, door locks and rear window wiper, all in the interest of saving weight. They had a 360mm leather covered steering wheel and special cloth interior. 6JX15 wheels were on the front with 7JX15 rears. The torsion bars/stabilizers were larger and the bushings were of a harder rubber compound. They also had stiffer springs and sports shocks. I believe mine has bilsteins for example. Supposedly, the front springs are also adjustable.

Apparently, these have been very successfully raced on the Solo II national circuit but I don't know how recent that's been.

In a nutshell, at least in my humble opinion, they are probably the best of the 924s, excluding of course the racing models. They are essentially, as are all 88 924S's, a 924 body jacked up and a 944 engine, suspension, exhaust system and drive train put under it, except in the case of the SE's where they went even further with the weight saving deletions and suspension modifications.

So, of the 500 that came to the NA market, how many are left and what are they worth? Who knows...depends on the condition and how bad the buyer wants it I suppose. One thing is for sure..they were not that common when they first came out and even rarer now.

Hope this helps and maybe Bob has found out some more or can offer some corrections to anything I've said here.

Yeah..I think he's a bit of an optimist but on the other hand, maybe I'm really looking for a reason NOT to sell it.
Oh..and on the specs of a SE..I forgot one other thing. They were lowered as well.

Thanks Doug! Exactly what I was looking for. I may have spotted one in my area and wanted to be sure I knew what I was looking at. Also, if yours sells, I'd be curious to know what you got for it.

Thanks again.

125K miles but a good maintenance record. Should be interesting.

The suspension is the fabled M030 package.

The front struts have spring perches and are adjustable.

I've noticed from the 5 I've seen so far that the fabric was light weight and prone to heat detioration.

The 88 924S engine also has an automatic timing belt adusting system and a slightly higher CR.

That is an advantage over the 87 924S as well as all the NA 2.5 liter 944.

LSD is still a special order.

Sunroof delete is special order.

Not all had splash guards nor lower moldings.

If you have a non CA car the code will beC02.

I'e got the codes from all the cars I've seen and I'll try to put a list together.

You could order the rear wiper.

I'm not sure what is excluded from the 756 package.

You could order the 030 on a normal 924S or 944.

The car on ebay has this option set.

Code Option Description
030 Sport Group
360 Splash guard corner pieces
526 Cloth door panels
573 Air conditioner
657 Power steering
756 Special model 924S USA 1988
990 Seats all cloth
C03 California type car

a QK trans non lsd

paint code and interior code L041/LO41 aka black on black.

By the way I bought mine real cheap since it is hit hard in the front.

The intention is

convert to a 951 engine, drop a lsd in it, upgrade the brakes to 951 components while still using the m030.

I've secured all the parts for the conversion.

One thing I've heard concerning all us market 924's after 78, is that they came with AC and sunroof due to the demand of the US public.

You could delete the sunroof option but I'm not sure you could delete the AC option.

I haven't found any facory code, but the best place would be to ask a dealer current or past salesperson to see if there was stock options and the ability to delete them on a special order.

My 82 931 has no sunroof, it is the only one I've seen other than the 76 and 77 924s and one 84 944.

Odd huh
