Anyone that starts a sentence with "dude" is unlikely to ever own a Porsche. I wouldn't worry about it too much
On the subject- any Porsche enthusiast will enjoy the 924 line, if they don't then they likely don't know much about the marque anyway.

Don't remember who it was, but there was a similar thread a while ago. The post was something like:
"Why pay 4 times as much for a car that looks like a squatting frog?"
Or something like that referencing the 911.
Personally, having driven a 911, I prefer the 924. It has much better balance and seems more "drivable" at the limit.
I have to admit though, the sound of that air-cooled six gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Just plain prettier than the 924's engine note. |

Alright. just got back from the RMR PCA's Oktoberfest. MAN! the only thing older than mine was a white 356. fully restored, beautiful. I was respected as a Porsche owner, and nobody made any 924 jokes or brought up the subject. there were some SWEET cars there. GT2, GT3, 996TT cab, cayennes up the wazoo, more boxsters than Cayennes, and 911, 964, 968, 944, 951, 928, 993, 968 and 996. Man, what an event. free food and beer too. too bad I'm under 21. _________________ werd B. |

A 75?
I'm not up on the HP of a 911 but what was the 951 compared to that year 911? _________________ -Stu

75? Hmm I thought the Carreras of 1973-4 (RS?) were supposed to be "more equal than equal" of all the Porsche cars. But again, a 951 compared to what? A 951 was a modern car compared to those 911s.
By the way, who's the guy in San Francisco who has the license plate "MY 924 T" on his blue 931 in cherry condition? Never see a cherry 924, let alone a 931 'round these parts. _________________ denis d.

Around here i get admiring looks from 911 owners(both new and the older ones) on both the 924 i had and my 944s2. The boxster owners are the arogant jackasses who turn their noses up.
Oh yeah, i start sentences with dude and i owned two porsches until recently _________________ 90 944 S2

Don't worry about them - I used to get it all the time when I first joined the PCNZ - and then I started to piss them off by actually beating 911 on the race track, and that was in a almost bog standard 924 N/A.
When I started running the GT that really pissed a few of them off as suddenly their genuine Porsche's including the 73 911 RS units were beaten by a humble water pumper. After a while I got tired of dealing with the jerks so I went and played in a different game.
I was persuaded to come back and play with the the porches at a meeting at Manfield a few years ago and in the second race it was an all Porsche field (about 40 cars with about 3 water pumpers). On lap 1 one of the dudes driving a Le Mans 3.8 litre RSR decidee to use my drivers door as a braking mark. Deliberate attempt to punt me off the track - stuffed my door and very little damage to his car. Later in the race he then drove up the arse of a very nice 951 and totaled the back of the 951 and this time took himself out (ended up in the kitty litter). Both me and the 951 driver spoke to him and is comment was tough shit you should be driving a water pumper in with real Porsches anyway.
After this I don't bother to race with the 911's not worth the hassle, infact I've become the snob as I just can't be bothered talking to some of them. _________________ Remember a Porsche is not just for Christmas,

Dude...
The reason some 911 owners say that... in fact plenty of them... is that they have small thingys.
Of course, the real P-car enthusiasts are a different bunch entirely... _________________ Vaughan Scott

John H,
While he was chasing me, I would have lifted in the exit of a high speed turn and watched him swap ends. |
