I have a 1979 924 and I have just purchased new intake boots. I put the new boots on and now the car wont start. I think that the problem is that on one of the new boots, the boot that attaches onto the air filter box, there is an outlet about 1 inch long that looks like something should attach to it. My old boot did not have this outlet thingy. I am thinking about just plugging the outlet with a screw or something, but I was wondering if I got the wrong part or if something is supposed to attach there.
Thank you -- brian

My 81 has it. It connects to a plastic part (probably some sort of valve) then the plastic part conects to a vacuum line that goes to the intake and connects right by the cold start valve. I couldnt tell you what it does though.

Then try to find the right boot for your application.

My '77 came without the outlet. The replacement boot came with the outlet. I plugged the outlet with a bolt and hose clamp. It works fine. I believe the old style boot without the outlet has been superceeded to the boot with the outlet.
