If I were to remove the muffler on a 924 and insert a staight pipe in it's place, would it sound better or sound like crap?

Go for it. Take along your industrial earplugs and it'll sound just fine. Watch out for cops, though. For some reason they don't bug the obnoxious car-vibrating stereo guys, but will nail you for exhaust noise of a similar volume.

free flow definately helps, I had it done, but the noise is way too loud. Vibration will be a killer.
