This is interesting....
The 924 has a rock chip in the windshield that I was going to get repaired as part of my restoration.
According to both the glass shop and my insurance carrier, the chip can't be repaired because it is in the drivers vision. Here's the kicker, the entire windshield must be replaced but it will cost me nothing.. nada... zip as the glass place picks up the comprehensive deductible.
Thus, instead of paying for a chip repair, I wind up with a free windshield. Isn't life weird?
I wonder what I do about the inspection sticker? Anyone know? _________________ -Stu

Car went back to MAACO today for the touch ups. I will get it back tuesday and try and get new pictures on the site.

The spacers are here but not yet installed (it's on the "to do" list). The wider tires will come the next time I need a replacement.
It's starting to come together _________________ -Stu

Break off the section of windsheild that has the sticker, put it in a ziplock bag and keep in on the dash until you get inspected again. -Or just ask the glass guy - he should know better than anyone. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Hi stu
by va state law you can not remove and reinstall the inspection sticker.
but it is done all the time. as for the city sticker, you live in vabeach and they have done away with the city sticker this year so you do not have to have a city sticker anymore.
im not a 100% sure but i think if you call the stste police and tell them the window was replaceed they will give you a new sticker with out doing a inspection on the car.
good luck |

There is probably no chance of getting that sticker off in decent shape to re-display. I'm probably going to have to get the care re-inspected which isn't a big deal.
Another thought is the VIN tag. Isn't this also on the windshield? _________________ -Stu

5/16ths spacers installed on the rear today. Man what a difference that makes. It actually looks like the wheels line up now
Once I get the wider tires, the look will be complete. _________________ -Stu

I'll be damned. So it is.
I wonder if I am still learning all this stuff or if I am getting so damn old that it just seems that way _________________ -Stu

Glass was replaced this morning (absolutely free with a lifetime leak warranty) and as an added bonus the new glass is tinted! The installer transferred the inspection decal to the new glass. I don't know how he got it off the old glass in one piece but he did.
For those interested in such things, new pictures have been posted on the web site. If you go the 924 restoration page and scan down to the power antenna upgrade pic you really get a nice close up shot of the MAACO paint job. If you continue to scan down to the windshield replacement, you get a good front shot of the MAACO paint job.
I can't stress enough how pitted, chipped, and blemished the front nose panel and hood were prior to MAACO fixing it. They really did a wonderful job for the price.
On the 924 photo album page, there are before and after shots of the rear of the car (sorry that the lighting isn't the same) and if you drop to the bottom, you get a full shot of the car with the new paint, new power antenna, wheel spacers, etc.
On a final note, the windshield installer asked me about the paint and who did it. When I told him MAACO, his jaw visably droppped _________________ -Stu
