FINALLY.

Finally I installed my new engine. Mine is a 1980 924 T.

Please don't mind the dirty engine bay, as I am currently working on cleaning it out, making everything shiny and spotless.

Anyway, on with the pics : )

My friend can't spell "Porsche" correctly, as is evident above.

(check out the sweet interior pics!)

Real nice. That's what my interior looked like sometime way before I owned the car - and I've had it about 10 years.

I like the McDonalds cup. that come standard? J/k. looks great I like how clean and pristine the interior is. is that original, or have you had it re-upholstered? either way, it looks incredible.

Personally, i would kill anyone who tried to use my porsche as a cup holder. And you engine bay is not that dirty, you should see mine. The PO decided to park it under a tree with the hood off. I am still cleaning leaves and seeds(the little propeller ones) out of the engine bay. Wish i had an interior like yours. Mine is the original plaid.

That was me using it as a cup holder. I mean, come on, a guy doing an engine transplant has to eat and drink . I need to have it repainted this summer anyway. There are many paint chips all over the car as it had sat for quite some time outside. As soon as someone buys my 93 Probe GT I'll get this car painted. (my car had a lot of leaves and crap in the engine bay as well, especially the battery compartment. I just sucked it all up with a shopvac)

As far as I know, the interior is all original. Perhaps one of you could examine the photos and tell me whether it is or not, as this is the first and only 924 I have ever owned.

As for everyone else, thanks for all the compliments

Edit: I forgot, I had one question I was hoping someone here could answer. When I was installing the engine, I noticed that my steering linkage was almost completely deteriorated. I searched for about 5 months (this was before christmas 2002), and just last week I happened to find a steering linkage from a 1984 924 on ebay. I went ahead and bought it, however I'm not sure if this will be suitable for my car. Does anyone know if a steering linkage from a 1984 924 is compatible with a 1980 924?

great job on getting your car running. I hope to have mine running again here in a couple of weeks. As for your steeing linkage question...what exactly is it that is worn out?

The joints in the linkage were worn out and rusted badly. There was way too much play in the motion of the joints on either end of the linkage. In my opinion it needed to be replaced, I wouldn't feel safe driving around with it the way it was.
