dodge neon srt-4 vs subaru wrx then talon awd tsi turbo
Who ever thought a neon would be transformed.
http://staff.tcu.edu/jaltschul/SRT-4vsWRX_vs_Talon.WMV
I now have no respect for wrx's and talon tsi's
when a stock four door w/ four people in it could do such a job on the
A friend of mine in florida bought his and took it straight to the dyno
I quote exactly what the sheet he faxed me says:
229HP
247 FT/LB of torque
Aprox. 0-60 5.2sec
Aprox. 1/4mi 12.3sec
The aprox drag times are computer generated using the dyno read outs.
The friend also has a 944 and he says the neon almost handles better, and he likes the 6spd on the neon much better than having a five speed.
Im sorry, but it tears my heart to hear that from him, because he's a good friend of mine and a neon could outdo our porsches. _________________ My Old Porsche Thats Sold

that's a disgrace!!! I don't care if it could blow the doors off a vette I would never be caught dead owning a neon. The frames and bodies of those cars are still shit, a slight tap and that car will be totalled. _________________ -'87 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L 6" of lift 33" Super Swampers

LOL. Does your "friend" exist? Maybe if he did, and he had an SRT-4, he'd realize that it's a 5 speed.
Handles better than his imaginary 944?
Automobile magazine got a 14.2@102 with their SRT-4. It dynoed at 223hp/250lb-ft. Time for a new computer simulation.

I know what the magazines have said, and yes he does exist and now that I read his email again, it is a five speed, but he said it shifts better than his 944. Sorry for that misread. But yes, the magazines say 0-60 5.6 and 1/4 mile in 13.8-14.1sec. Im just tellingyou what the dyno sheet says. Good Grief.
By the way, it is the fastest car under 20k dollars, too bad it's ugly as hell. _________________ My Old Porsche Thats Sold

| Let's see how long that neon of his will actually run. My boss has had to replace his engine twice in a year, his timing belt has blown a few times and his steering is messed up and stuff. Everyone i know with a neon has had it crap out on them at least once a year with major repairs. I thought my 924 was unreliable till i heard about some of these neons..... |

life expectancy? What do you expect from a mitsubishi? They're just the basic Mitsu 4G63 motor aren't they - same engine as hyundai use in their "larger" cars. Seems to be a favourite with builders of throw-away cars. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Not only that, but the Neon has a shorter shift linkage too. The tranny in the 924/944/924S is all the bloody way in the back of the car, the linkage has a lot farther to go. And as anyone with a 914 has learned, the longer the linkage, the worse it gets.

I drive a Neon every day, and I haven't had any problems with mine. I think it is quite fast and handles pretty well, but I can't really complain on any of the cars. Can't quite see why Neon should be that bad as you people say. _________________ Sveina

not really bad. Just another modern throw-away car that you have to look at the badges to work out what it is. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

The video is of a totally different car. Though based off the neon, the engine is completely different, along w/ the drivetrain. This thing would blow away almost any car on the street under 25000 dollars(stock) _________________ My Old Porsche Thats Sold

| Denis does have a really good point. Even worse, ever seen one riced out or how about a beetle riced out. Now that is horrible. |
