Nearly done with the preparation for the technical inspection this Thursday.
Cant wait to drive this car again.
This year is the 50th year of the 924, any special celebration events planned in USA or in any other place on this ball?

Amelia Island show is coming up, a big classic car event, and the 924 is supposed to get some good exposure... makes me wish I could go down for it, but of course I'm off in England at the same time and will miss it all...
But there should be some good feeds on the socials about it, from Hagerty and such... _________________ Vaughan Scott

My Endurance race team was called Fifty Plus Racing back in the 1990s because all the drivers were over fifty years old. My business is called Fifty Plus Cars LLC because I only work on the older Porsche engines. The numbers on my race car are 50 with a little Plus sign (+) beside them. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

Every year I see a huge amount of promotion material from the Bosch test track at Boxberg when they have a giant classic car rallye - cars parading around the high speed oval, across the skidpad, touring the facility, all that.
And then I look at our mediocre little test track here in the States, where we're barely allowed to take our personal cars out of the parking lot without getting some side-eye, and they refuse to let us do any testing of our own race cars - though they'll let out the facility to Formula SAE with untrained drivers - and blame the lawyers for it all...
But if you're close enough, check out the Boxberg Klassik Rallye!!! 27-28 June:
https://www.bosch-classic.com/de/en/events/
As for today, the local PCA meets are having a swap meet at a race shop/storage facility... lots of cool things there in storage, including a couple of old CanAm cars and a 906 I think... so will drop in with the 931, see how many other non-SUV P-cars show up... _________________ Vaughan Scott

I've been away from the board for too long now.
Time for a small update.
I've been busy with the new 911SC EFI kit and with the big 50 years of 924 event, then some personal things as well.
Here are some pics from the event in Neckarsulm and Stuttgart.
Factory workers that actually worked on the 924 and 944 back in the 70s and 80s
I was hoping for such little meetings, for me this was pure gold.
Dear friends, 924 owners that i met trough this board at first and then became close friends with.
One of my customers from UK that ordered and installed the EFI kit last minute before the trip.
I'm very proud of the number of 924s at the meeting that used my kits. There were quite a few.
One abandoned 924 that we bought a few weeks before the meet, strapped an EFI kit to and did a general service and drove from Rome to the event and then to Romania.
Local newspaper article
Some eye-candy pictures from the trips to/back from and at the two locations of the event.
My new toy, i quite like this thing..more than the cayman and more than the 996 coupe i had a couple of years ago. I might keep this for a while.

Completed the 944 radiator swap over the last couple of days . The original rad was completely shot . Got the car running on a single carb setup as a temporary setup to alow me to move it about under it's own power while working on it . Will either go with bike carbs or EFI when it's ready to hit the road .

So bummed I missed the Treffen to Stuttgart - looks amazing.
I'm expecting/hoping to be able to swing by the factory in July in the middle of a work trip, but I won't have any 924 with me, just some crappy rental I'm sure, so will miss 90% of the fun. Ah well.
Meanwhile, have been wrenching heavily on 924s... pulled the motor out of the HP racecar after the clutch - well, actually, pressure plate - died on the dyno this week. New Sachs kit on the way, and we'll reassemble with the new (actually NOS) Stahl header and hopefully get another run on the dyno before the month's out... then right to the racetrack! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Vaughan,
Is that one of the final Stahl headers that Dan got? Or a newer race version?

This is the final one.
Interesting to note smaller pipes throughout, in addition to the 4-1 design... it'll be a gamble, and I have to decide how to line it up with my 2.5" system... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Did the same a few weeks ago; did you have to make new supports for it? Mine didn't have back support points, so I had a shop weld me two. _________________ 924 - 79' |

I made up brackets from Ali strip that bolt to the mounts on the rad and onto the original mounts in the shell.
