Fun to see ione at Lenos! Car seems to be rough around the edges, but he seem to have used it alot. Some factual errors are annoying, but its always expected
seems like the guy used to be famous in the US, i had no clue who he is _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Funniest part, two ~80ish old men falling into a 924 simultaneously.
Cool that the 924 gets some mainstream attention. _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

Nice to see the 924 into the spotlights but i guess i'm not old enough to sit trough all their conversations. i shamelessly skipped to where they were driving the car, showing it or talking about it _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I have love-hate feelings whenever one of my classics gets some attention. The 924 deserves far more love than it gets; it's amazing what Porsche was able to do working from VW's parts bin, and really the one big legitimate criticism is that the engine fell short of the rest of the car. But the obscurity and common advice along the lines of "skip the 924, the 944 is what it should have been to start with" means parts and good project cars are cheap and reasonably plentiful. You never know when an obscure car like the 924 is going to go viral and drive prices up.
Anyway, regarding Jay Leno, he's a comedian who did a humorous late-evening TV variety show on NBC in the US. A household name in the US, but I'm not too surprised he's not well-known outside the US. He did appear on Top Gear once or twice back when. He's a life-long car nut - one of his best Jay Leno garage episodes is on his '65 or '66 Galaxie. It's patterned off the car he talked his dad into special ordering when he was in his early teens, with the most powerful big block it could get and the performance exhaust package that was quite a shock to his unsuspecting dad when the car was delivered! He's not the most technically knowledgeable, and he has a staff to maintain his extensive collection, but I'm pretty sure he still gets his hands dirty on a regular basis. He's pretty funny and an all-around good guy to boot. _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |
