Can definitely see how much the original foam has shrunk vs. new; the driver's base has a decently snug fit over the new foam, but the other panels need more work or will need a re-touch.
I'd definitely advise anyone planning to reuse the old foams (and the rest of mine were, generally, in decent enough shape to do so) to plan to add more foam over the top - buy a sheet and spray-glue on - to make up for the loss of volume over the years.
I definitely will do this with mine if they don't smooth out more with time and steam... but not in a rush, have much more urgent things to deal with now! _________________ Vaughan Scott

That pattern looks so good, how does the fabric feel? I hope you can get it less wrinkly without to much hassle.
My knees hurt by that wheel position, have you tried spacing out the wheel, makes such a massive difference I guess you have something in the race car parts bin _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

LOL! I don't have an issue with the wheel position... for better and for worse, it's a smaller diameter than stock. So more knee room... but hard to see some of the gauges, and even more steering effort. ESPECIALLY with the massive front tires I have now! So not ideal... but I can certainly live with it.
The fabric is lovely, like it so much more than full leather - it's softer and friendlier, if that makes sense. Do need to get some protectant on it ASAGDMFP. Same for the leather, to be sure.
Though I will say this new leather is much softer, more supple, and friendlier as well than old factory seats... those always felt too stiff to me, not entirely comfortable. This is much nicer.
For filling them out - when time again permits, I'll have a go with the steamer for a round... but I suspect the foam volume loss is so much that I'll need to either add more overlayer of foam then reinstall, or just buy new foams. So of course much more likely to do the former, for budget.
But that'll have to wait a couple of months; I have two race weekends and a business trip in-between, as well as other cars in need of fixing outright. So cosmetics are back to the bottom of the list! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Added foam, a little more tweaking, and they're looking pretty good... supplier says throw more heat at 'em, to shrink the leather some, but I'll let them settle a bit first...

Those seats look fantastic Vaughn. Where did you get the fabric (covers) This is something I may need to do for my car later as
a> I want more bolsters to hold me in and
b> they just look fantastic. _________________ Cheers;

Thanks!
Covers were made in the UK by these guys:
https://nineseriesclassics.co.uk/
They were wonderful to work with, starting by sending pics of my seats to match the correct type - wasn't certain of the provenance, if they'd been swapped from a 911 or such...
Be sure to check out the options on the Fabric tab, and scroll across. You'll see I chose the Blue Karo Madras tartan... but they also have Pasha in many colors (I seriously considered blue/black Pasha), and factory script in black or blue... etc etc...
Getting them done in the US might've been cheaper, but once I decided exactly what I wanted, I didn't see such an unusual custom job offered. Note that the other big US place, Classic Nine https://www.classic9leathershop.com/ is right near me. But for that fabric etc...
Regrets: #1, not adding foam from the start. I went thick, with 1/2" foam, but 1/4" will probably work for most. Note that I got 100% new base foam for the driver's side, mine was so used. If I'd put the foam on from the start, it'd have saved me one iteration of fitting.
#2: I didn't appreciate it when I ordered, but after having them for a little I realized I wanted a little extra bling on the headrest. This is why I added the patches... but it isn't quite ideal, and is definitely on the flashy side.
Ideal, for me, would have been to have Nine Series emboss either the Porsche crest or, even better, the "turbo" script directly in the leather. Didn't feel like shipping them back. Or, if you want the full color crest, have it embroidered directly (as Porsche does on some of their race seats). But this was an acceptable alternative (if a bit scary to do)...
Note that these are indeed factory sport seats... if you want the bolsters, you need to start by getting sport seats to recover. Time to start shopping eBay or the dismantlers... _________________ Vaughan Scott
