Team, I would appreciate some guidance on whether these wheels would fit my 1978 924 NA: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324678055082?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=400af18671934d77aae1d9e5299512cb&bu=43149354916&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20210811091725&segname=11051&sojTags=ch%3Dch%2Cbu%3Dbu%2Cosub%3Dosub%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid

They are 115mm backspacing on a 7" wheel, which I understand to be about +12mm offset (slightly lower positive offset from stock but one inch wider than stock tarantulas), and center bore is 63.5mm (vs. 57 stock, so I'd need some properly fitting hub rings). They are M14 lug sizes.

I don't have a ton of experience with wheel fitment in general, especially on the 924, so help would be much appreciated. Any tire size guidance as well? Also, if they fit, please don't front run me and buy them before I can!

Thats some amazing wheels those campagnolos!

A friend of mine runs 7x15 ET38 with 23mm spacer, which should be around ET15. He runs more track oriented front camber, and camber alignment makes a massive difference to the wheel fitment. I can upload a pic on how it looks tomorrow.

I'd be curious to see those snap shots! Any info helps.

Oddly, I can't find any photos or references to this wheel on anywhere on the internet.

First, those are staggered wheels, rears have a different offset compared to the fronts...pay attention to that as the seller only lists one size and offset and that is 100% sure they are at least different in offset.

Then, those look like high positive offset wheels to me.
Their description says offset 115, that may be measured wrong or not.
If the ET on those is 115, that puts those wheels very much inwards and you simply can not use them on the 924 as it is.

If they measured from the inner barrel lip to the hub interface 115mm, that would make them ET63.
If this is the case, then those wheels will sit inwards by 14mm compared to the 924 OEM wheels...and you would still need spacers to bring them out.

In conclusion, nice wheels, but not really suited for the 924.

I agree, they do look like high offset wheels. But that is a plus, because then the wheel position is easily adjusted with spacers to achieve the desired fitment.

Not if you need 80mm spacers tho

But if the guy mentioned backspacing is 115, then the wheels are ET63, which puts the outer lip of these wheels 14mm deeper into the wheel well than the original wheels and the inner lip closer to the spring/strut by 40mm.
So do a check if you can have the tire/rim closer to the spring/strut by 40mm.

Also ask for proper measurements on both front and rear wheels, like i said they have different offset from what i can see in the pictures.

If those eBay wheels are measured correctly (and who knows if they are), the backspacing is only 5mm more than tarantulas (115mm on the Campy, 100mm for stock). Wouldn't that put the lip only 5mm closer to the strut? I measured the strut clearance with the stock wheel at 16mm, so I don't have a lot of margin for error here. By my reckoning, the Campy wheels will be in 5mm closer to the strut and will stick out 20mm farther on the outside (which I don't think is a concern here). [/i]

Left should be your ebay wheels, right should be the tarantulas if you measured the backspacing properly and it is 100.

That means the tarantulas are (153mm)6" ET24 and at least two of the ebay wheels are (178mm)7" ET26.
That will put the outer lip of those wheels further out by about 10mm and you will have 15mm less clearance to the spring.
So those should fit nicely...but remember those wheels are different front to rear so you should ask the seller.

Also, double check my drawing and calculations, do your own thinking, i may have made mistakes.

Thanks for doing this; it is a much more professional version of the sketch I made and helps me know I'm on the right path here. The only difference I'm noting is that the tarantula backspace is 110mm (which I verified by measuring my spare).

Next I have to verify backspacing and stagger with the seller, and then I have to decide if I want to spend ~20% of the car's value on new wheels!

I think I am down to be the guinea pig here. The seller sent a message that indeed they are all 115mm backspaced. So, I think I'll take the risk.

I think the wheels will fit nicely.
Fronts may be a bit of a tight squeaze but worst case you dial a bit of negative camber.
For tires..i’d go for 205/55/15 if they clear the car.

In regards to the car’s value, dont look at it like that.
If you like the car and the wheels and they are not a large percentage of your income it does not matter what the costs of car/wheels are.
Spend your money on what makes you happy and dont care about what others think something is worth.

The wheels are en route. I've vacillating between 205/55r15 and 195/60r15 tires.

Porsche put 205s on 6” wheels for the 924 so I’d definitely go with 205s on 7” wheels and not 195s..

I’m really liking these..

Even worked pretty good in pouring rain..
