|
|
Sorry for the noob question but I can't seem to see a concise answer. I have the 79 'Snail shell' manual transmission and everywhere I look says a different answer.
924.org says specifically the 79 model uses 80W90 GL4 instead of GL5.
Others sites I have seen say NEVER use GL5.
Should I use 75W90 GL5 or 80W90 GL4?
Any help would be awesome. Based in New Zealand so freezing cold starts and hot starts are never really an issue here if that helps. |

How about looking in the factory documentation instead (if you don't have it drop me a pm)
Its pretty clear there, GL5 for the snail shells and GL4 for the audi gearboxes. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

The go-to oil for 915 gearboxes is Swepco 201, a GL-5 oil.
Since the snail shell is based on the 915 GL5 makes sense as Cedric says. _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden
