|
|
I have lost power to my fuel pumps and a little smoke came out of the area or the wire harness while I was feeling around trying to find something obvious that may have been the cause.
Losing power to the fuel pumps was an occasional issue that I used to be able to solve by putting my left foot up in the area of the wire harness and pushing the bundle of wires around, well that doesn't work anymore.
Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? What do you have to do to fix it?
For now I have disconnected the ground at the battery.
Any suggestions as to where to start would be appreciated.
Car has been running great until this happened.
Thanks,

Drop the fuse boxes and check all connections and wires. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

There should be 3 or 4 large red power wires going into the back of the board , check those guys. It's been minute since I dug around in a harness, but I think one of them supplies power to what you are having issues with.
Those wires originate at the positive connection for the battery and pull power directly from the alternator charge line to the battery.
I would also check all grounds (two big bundles of them behind the fuze panel).
Good luck!

does it make sense to remove the dash
having a very difficult time getting "up in there"
one bolt in front was easy to get to but it hasn't given enough freedom of movement to get the fuse/relay block to drop down _________________ BFG

Yeah it's pretty easy to take off.. First the trim on the windshield columns and the steering wheel, center column, and a few more screws n bam done..
Clean all sorts of grounds and contacts and rebuild switches and tape up heater lines so they seal, clean the heater controls mechanism while your in there etc.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
