We had to bypass the fuel dampener because we're waiting on a new jumper line. We ran the supply line straight to the rail.
I still had the vacuum line from the pressure regulator to the throttle body.
It started throwing gas.
I don't understand the pressure reg/damper and vacuum line. I hope to get the jumper in a few days and revert to OEM but my son is dying to run the thing. Can I just plug the vacuum port on the pressure reg and also on the throttle or not? Just to run the car for a few minutes, not drive it or anything. _________________ 87 924S project, '83 944 engine,

Sorry, what's throwing gas? The regulator? Hooking the line straight into the rail should work, no problem. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

gas shot out the vacuum line (that's connected to pressure regulator) where it attaches to the throttle assembly, normally it's branched and also connects to the dampener but I had it going straight to the throttle since the dampener was not in the mix. I don't think gas should be there. Maybe the regulator got fried in the fire?

I thought that was what you were saying...
Yes, that regulator is toast... _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

Regulator, damper.
A bit spendy, but I wouldn't go used. This might have started your fire. _________________ Toofah King Bad

ah, good point!
I got one off ebay already but you're right, probably should have gone new. I will check it out thoroughly.
I might autopsy the bad one, interesting to know what happened, internal melting of something I would think.
We'll probably find more fire damaged easter eggs as we go along. _________________ 87 924S project, '83 944 engine,
