| Hello! Im the proud owner of the Porsche 924s, 1988. 2.5 liter with the 5 speed manual. My uncle gave me the car since he is getting older and is unable to take better care of it. What is the maintenance like on these vehicles? I have only American cars at my house, so this will be the first non American car. Thank you! |

There is a ton of info on the board for your search. Basically, the FOES, front of engine service is the most important. Depending on the last service, replacing the timing belt, balance belt, most likely all the rollers, water pump, tensioner stud to block, thermostat, alternator belt, will ensure miles of peace of mind!
After that, inspecting the wear limit on the clutch disk, inspecting the speed and reference sensor connections (watch they don't crumble in your hand), changing out the tranny lube if original, sparkys, wires, cap/rotor, etc. Good luck, fun car to own and drive! _________________ '83 944 Track car.

| My uncle had the timing belt done 1000 miles ago, so when would I have to do it next? |

That's debatable, almost as many opinions on that as there are on oil selection! Belts are much better than those in 1988, so, some say years and with few miles. Others say up to 30,000 miles in few years, etc. Water pump every other belt change. _________________ '83 944 Track car.
