Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to replace my lines coming off the distributor to the injectors. I took the old lines to a shop, they said the ID is 8mm. They aren't able to make the same size but can make them in 6mm. Would the drop in size be a problem? I know these cars are sensitive about fuel pressure.

If the 6mm is a problem, anyone know a good source for replacing these lines?

Thanks,
Dave.

The change from 6mm to 8mm wont affect pressure but will affect flow.

Thanks for the reply,

So the person making these lines wants to charge 100 bucks per line. Has anyone found pre made lines that work for a more reasonable price?

Just find some 8mm fuel line and do it yourself. The ends are just barbed and the hose slips on. Use some crimps if you want extra safe.

Thanks!

For some reason that sounds too simple for this car. I've gotten to use to having complicated part searching.

As for the ends, are banjo ends and hollow banjo bolts fairly findable?

Just tried Part Source and no surprise that they didn't have anything for the fittings and bolts.

Re-use the old ones. Just replace the actual flex line.

I think my ends are all crimped on and rusted pretty good, I'd be happy with new pieces if possible

Appreciate the replies and suggestions![/img]

I can't thank you enough for that link. Good prices and good prices on shipping to Canada. Unreal!

I have a 77NA and I will also be looking to replace my lines. I don't know anything about the seller or the quality of the product, by you can get an entire set on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Porsche-924-77-80-Set-of-Fuel-Injector-Lines-COHLINE-/361388534865?fits=Year%3A1977%7CMake%3APorsche%7CModel%3A924%7CSubmodel%3ABase%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A2.0L&hash=item54246f6c51:g:rj4AAOSwFnFV9~Z~&vxp=mtr

Individual lines can also be found on eBay as well.

cohline is probably good enough. I called Pelican Parts the other day and the line they carry is Cohline. I'm liking this option of buying the end fittings, bolts, and fuel line myself, I think this is going to cost me about 50 bucks or so to have everything new and shiny under there. I'll also want to do the line to the WUR and the send and return line, so I'm excited about that link rhialto sent. Also, good tag line - always be Cthulhu, good choice.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Personally I don't like the layout of the lines in the early cars. I was thinking along the same line you are looking into and I would love to see pics of your solution. Mine is in need of some work. It was a barn recovery by the PO and at some point I will post the pics he sent me of it. Under the hood was just plain scary. It's not in too bad of a condition and as I fix things it will get better and better. I'm not going to even try to stay stock. I will make it my own creation (monstrosity). The Cthulhu reference actually goes back to the previous car. My wife gets the Horror Block which is a monthly box of horror related items. One month she got an early release of the Cthulhu on Board sign which I immediately put in the back window of my car. I was driving an all black 2008 Smart ForTwo. The last Friday of this past February, a guy in a Lincoln Towncar pulled out in front of me. I T-boned him at about 40 MPH. (+1 to the Smart engineers, I was not injured.) Accident was his fault and fortunately there was insurance on the car he was driving (long story short, not his car and his license was suspended). My car was totaled so I was on the quest for a replacement. I opted for an old school solution. My black Smart became a black Porsche. I went from a 42 to a 24, I sort of like the symmetry. I'm not sure how I will put the Cthulhu sign in the Porsche; however, I am considering a front vanity plate that says Cthulhu Rises. If I can't find something I like, my wife has a small cutting machine so I can make my own by cutting it out of vinyl. And yes, always be Cthulhu.

Just an after thought for any of the moderators, can we get a Cthulhu emoticon?

Cut the crimps with a Dremel, and use the money you were going to spend on new fittings on a bench grinder with a wire wheel. I PROMISE they will clean up fine.

damn good idea Rasta. Thanks! I don't even need to spend the money, I happen to have a bench grinder. I'm happy I posted, several good options have appeared. Thanks everyone!
