Yep, I am a fan.
The wheels look great to me. How does it ride with such little sidewall? _________________ '81 Porsche 924 NA

Thanks XL!
Ride: Here's the honest reply. I have come from 70 aspect ratios in the late 70s to 35s F, 30s R on my GT3 (with Motons). So, to me a 50 is relatively big side wall. This car has fresh HD bilsteins and a large rear upgraded sway that is set pretty firm. The car rides so well my wife slept in the passenger seat on her way home from a surgical procedure today....smooth but very fun to drive in the twisty bits! _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931

See? You tend to find resto-mods correct if the parts used and the style is period correct and mods are done using higher quality models parts.
To me even tho MOMO makes fine producs its a step down from say a 3 spoke or 4 spoke 924 wheel and same goes for the shifter.
I'm not trying to bring any harsh critique here just to comment on whats seen as "right" for a resto mod.
If I may add a suggestion...ROW bumper for the rear as well. |
Hey Morghen.
Rear bumper: Obviously the ROW front bumper transforms these cars! My main goal was that. I actually have the rear ROW bumper as well. Reasons to abort that swap are these: 1.) I love the sound and look of my Monza catback exhaust & dual slant tips (Ansa generic). The issue was the tips are perfectly "just" past the US bumper. I decided the ROW rear bumper would be just short enough to make the tips awkwardly too long under the ROW bumper. It would be very problematic to try to cut & shorten the exhaust. 2.) With the ROW bumper, combined with my "Porsche" script center light (installed by PO but it works on the car), I would have no where to hang my license plate. _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931

Thanks for the ride feedback. I am still running standard springs and ride height on the 14" Tarantula alloys. The car rides well, but rolls (and understeers) a bit too much for me.
I live where goat tracks are called "roads", so very conscious of how moving to bigger wheels (potentially) and 944 S2 sways (procured) will do to the ride.
That said, there is always a compromise, but it's tough when you spend a lot of money and go too far! _________________ '81 Porsche 924 NA

Great, thats what its all about !
| canyonblaster wrote: | | I love the Porsche 17's on the car! My intent was handling performance |
17"s are perfect for these cars, i also run 45 profile tires and i absolutely love them. For my euro roads they are the perfect balance.
| canyonblaster wrote: | | I purposely sourced 4 matching 17x7's because I didn't want to run staggered (for handling reasons). I also love how they modernize the car. |
Indeed the "square" setup is rewarding in terms of feel and performance, i've never been happier with how my 924s feel and handle since i run the same tires front and rear.

I have a thick 911 3 spoke on my red 924 and a thin 924 3 spoke on my 931...i also have a spare super thick (rare) 911 turbo 3 spoke...to be honest i thought i'd love the super thick one but actually i'm getting sick of the thick one and i like the thin 924 version the most...and i dont have small hands

Cheers ! no personal thanking for that stuff, this is a great board because of good people who share and help. I grew up on this board with such people and i'm also thankful. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I like it - a lot. Very cool and distinctive car. Great job. Where did you get the momo wheel and adapter from? _________________ MOD

Thanks for the kind words!
Momo hubs for these cars are available from dozens of sources, google/amazon should work. I was originally running a classic Prototipo wheel. This particular Momo wheel is a recent and very limited numbered edition, that I sourced from Momo directly (expensive $$$ . I think they only made 50 with red and 50 with yellow accents. I love it. _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931

I am seeking new clear center lamps for my newly installed euro front bumper. Who can help?

| Big bucks new. Try ebay UK for good used. Be careful. The 944 euro lights look similiar but won't work on your bumper. Only 924 will work. Interestingly they were used on an obscure Aston Martin and as expected are even more expensive. |

Are you looking for originality?
Have you considered fitting LED driving lights?
Might look nice if you could come up with a decent surround. _________________ 1978 924

No so, just removed some from an early 944 euro bumper and swapped them to a toofah bumper. They fit, and are the same part number per PET.
FWIW, US corner markers also fit! _________________ Toofah King Bad
