Where the heck can I find a gas cap for a 1979 924 NA?? I cannot find one anywhere. I've bought (and returned) 4 different caps and none of them fit.

My 1979 uses the old-style big caps without the little door. I don't think this one would fit.

I ran into the same issue as you and I am now stuck with several brand new gas cap that won't fit my car!

The one that came on my car was similar to this

I do have one that fits our car that is brand new but it is chrome colored.
I'll take a picture if you are interested

For my part I ended up buying a used one on ebay that was the black look I was looking for

I thought early 924 was same as the early vw rabbit?
Here is an expensive example:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GAS-CAP-PORSCHE-924-VOLKSWAGEN-JETTA-VOLKSWAGEN-RABBIT-VOLKSWAGEN-SCIROCCO-/331741842719?fits=Make%3APorsche

But there are many Rabbit gas caps on ebay if it is.

Here are some threads on the topic:

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a similar issue/question. I just got mine out of winter storage and put 30-40 miles on it. I have noticed that twice now there has been gas leaking out around the cap when I have parked the car. The tank is pretty full, 7/8 or so full, and it has only done this two of the six or so times that I have driven the car this year. Does this sound like a gas cap issue or something in the breather system to you guys? BTW my gas cap is a non-locking type and has VW imprinted on the inside metal threaded area.

So, does anyone happen to have a spare fuel-filler? Mine is totally shot and the inlet is rusty and corroded to hell and back. Which is probably making it difficult to find a cap that fits anyway.

Here's how mine looks - http://imgur.com/a/HlPAY

They were made by a company called Blau for Porsche. NOS stuff pops up on eBay frequently. I scored one a little while back.
