Ok she starts but shuts off right away and as I suspected the plunger in the fuel distributor is stuck in the up position. Is there a way to get it loose WITHOUT taking apart the fuel distributor? I was hoping that the fuel pressure would help it. I have techtron in the fuel (1 bottle in 2 gallons). I'm letting it soak a while.
Thanks for any ideas..... _________________ 1979 924 Diamant Zweischicht.

Brother and I took the damn fuel distributer apart and got the plunger to move smoothly in and out. So we put it back together. And put it on the car and now NO fuel is movin through it. (we checked the inlet for fuel👍🏻and released air pressure out of the pressure regulator, but no fuel is coming out of the injectors 👎🏻.
Previously the injectors would spray. Do I need to bleed the system?

Yes and pulled an injector to see if its spraying. To no avail 😖 Gonna get a fuel pressure tester this weekend. _________________ 1979 924 Diamant Zweischicht.

Do you have a spark? if the fuel pump relay wiring is all original it wont activate the fuel pump if theres no spark (designed to cut the fuel pump if you crash). _________________ 1982 924 2.0 Lux

Yes spark is good. Car was undercoat we when new so it's a great body and I can see where original are. The Porsche puzzle. Is there a diagram of all the fuel line availabile?
Also. I have another distributer with the same part number but they have different ID plays. Are they the same and are the parts interchangeable? _________________ 1979 924 Diamant Zweischicht.

Oh we took them apart. The first one I did and put it back together was a fail. The second one he did. He has more experience with them. He has an 81 and had a 79.
After trying to start it, the injectors would spray for approximately 1-2 seconds. But now they're not. Seems like I'm taking steps backwards. 😫
The gas that was in it varnished a lot of stuff. It has about 60k on it. I changed the accumulater, filters and I can hear the fuel pump and have pressure going into the distributor. Spark is good
I don't think he took apart the fuel pressure regulator. I quiz him on that.
Still, are the parts interchangeable? _________________ 1979 924 Diamant Zweischicht.

Just a thought for you-there is a company in Texas called Special T. They work on Deloreans which use a Bosch CIS fuel injection. They offer rebuilding of the Bosch fuel distributor.
If you pinpoint your problems to the fuel distributor.... _________________ 78 924 |

on the bottom of the distributor where the plunger goes in, there is a nick or recess on the bottom of the cylinder.
This must point to a corner to align the ports inside to allow fuel flow. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Ok. We were lookin at a few more things and discovered the car was out of time. This is a major issue with this car. The cam sprocket is the wrong one and the distributor is way whack!!!PO or someone put on an a gear that was WRONG. Part number 056 109 111a! We went to brothers parts bin and got another 79 2.0 sprocket and reset the timing and the distributor. It runs poorly. Must keep giving it gas.
But the best part is that it is spewing fuel into the airbox!! It is coming from the tube on the back of it.
Lots of white-ish smoke out of the tailpipe.
I'm alone so I can't set the timing light on it. [/img] _________________ 1979 924 Diamant Zweischicht.

The tube on the back of the air box goes to the sump so guess that you have a full sump of oil and fuel mix in there. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

|

Just fuel is coming out. What's the solution? It seems that it only pumps it out on higher RPMs and its missing on 1 cylinder.
Update..... Drained oil and fuel mixture. Had to be a gallon of fuel mixed in with it. New filter and oil on the way. I bet the insides are squeaky clean cause the techtron was in that fuel. 1 bottle to 2 gallons of fuel.
I hope that it isn't going to be doing this all the time. I'm going to get some new plugs too and gap them.
More later......
Decided to do something. So I pulled the injectors and the fuel pump relay. Fashioned a jumper, disconnected the negative and removed the key from the ignition. I put a jar under each injector, touched the battery to the neg,no key in ignition, to my surprise my pump was pumping and 3/4 injectors are spraying fuel. 1 zealously, 1 good, another poorly and the last one when I raised the air meter. The others also sprayed more when I raised the air meter.
I'm going to take off the fuel distributor in the morning and use the parts from my other one to hopefully have 1 good unit. If it doesn't work I'll need to have one farmed out. Any other suggestions for rebuilding are welcome |

We rebuilt the fuel distributer 3 times before we got it right!! Patience, extra O-rings, coffee and PB Blaster as a lube. As the injector tests went our rebuilding skills got better till we got it right. So it started and we got the engine tuned and timed right. Poking around, we replaced the connections with new vacuum hose. Noticed that the WUV wasn't connected. Checked the vacuum advance and it is good! Got some new plug wires and a cap and rotor installed.
Next is the brakes, the pedal goes to the floor but they stop the wheels while up on blocks. Gonna bleed them before thinkin about a new master cylinder.
Thanks for lookin. _________________ 1979 924 Diamant Zweischicht.
