I should have that "cam" for you if not the whole latch and rod assembly.

www.werk924.com has colours by year. Although your tutone will be either a dealer added job or something done by a PO. You'll have to run that site through translate, or not, depending on how good your German is.

Thank you brother!
Thank you for the awesome link.

If you can sell me that hatch Cam, I will be forever in your debt. I'm also looking for an excellent condition driver side quarter window seal, because mine is defiantly not going to survive removal in the next 2 days.

Regarding your link...
I got L97A as a silver colour it appears.

...single stage paint, hey fellas? Is that what was used for the factory? It looks like single stage..

I think I'm going to push myself hard & see about repainting the interior & exterior & getting everything else in order within 2 weeks. Possible?

All metallics were base/clear. Solid colors were single stage.

Dont paint it, you wont make it. Focus on making it a useable roadworthy car with no toxic smell inside. You have all the time in the world to paint it afterwards if you really want to. Interior does not need paint anyway..looks normal. You just need to sort out the gas problem(where it came from in the first place).

Ok,

So, one thing leads to another and before I know it, I'm stripping this interior down & thinking of FIA approved racing seats.

BUT... I ALREADY have a gutted car with racing seats.

And I don't need 2 of these types of cars. The 924 is supposed to be less of a pain in my back to get in and out of for commuting & running errands.

So I threw out the original carpet along with my idea to make a racer out of this car.

And I did the rational thing. Ordered a brand new carpet set!

If its not OEM it might not fit as the OEM one did..i would have taken one from a donor car but new carpet is also good
So did you find where all that gas came from?

M,

Yeah, I suspect you are right about the fit. The carpet I bought is a fraction of the cost of a new one. I first inspected my carpet from the 944 with plans of washing & vacuuming and dying it.

But even in that one the smell was too strong. Not nearly as bad, but still stinky.

So, this was the best option I could think of.

This morning:

"Rust converter" painted:

The fuel smell is a sickly sweet smell. Parts of the carpet (such as the entire hatch and rear quarters section reeks of this, which I am sure is drenched in petrol). And then the other fabric has been saturated also with exhaust smell from destroyed exhaust & shifter seal, hatch and sunroof seal. Next into the mix is the bio toxic mildew which gives a real "truth" element to the term "greenhouse" when referring to the cabin. In fact I remember pushing the car into the shop when removing the torque tube and seeing condensation on the dash gauges and thinking that was odd.

-------------

This realization of these problems set me in a bit of a tail spin emotionally. But I just kept at it, everyday this week... a bit in the morning & a bit at night.

I needed something. Some positive... element. And I got it today.

The Joy doesn't stop: looky at this here battery box. Awesome sauce!

I still have a lot of interior work to do. I removed every shred of insulation because I fear its holding in rotten fungus. YUCK!

To be honest i think you're exagerating with the fungus thing..a bit of sunshine will kill any fungus and unless its black its not dangerous.

Clean that rust up and if you cant weld, rust convert it and use fiberglass to sandwich the metal, i did that to my MK3 golf 6 years ago and it hasnt rusted until now...one would say its a botch job but its actually better than welding.

Kill mound with slightly diluted vinegar spray.
Also if it smells like mould, looks like mould it's mould.
That stuff kills you in the long term and definitely makes you sick in the term
Also use a dessicant in your car to suck up water or dampness, smells when it's sitting.

Great suggestion on the desiccant Lefty. Yeah, with a leaking batt tray, sunroof & hatch seals, it's not surprising there was a problem. Additionally one of the window regulators didn't work, so maybe it sat with the window down.

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

Mine are manual roll ups. Is that what you are referring to or electric Power Tryp?

Here's a pic of 2 worst areas of body damage on the exterior.

I figure I can also throw carpet over it, but in the meantime the mold is dead since I applied a urethane pickup truck box liner to the interior last night. F*CK YOU!
