Hello all,
I appreciate the help that people on the 924 Board has given me. My 924S experience won't be nearly as good.
I do have another question.
My 924S bucks taking off from a stand still. It usually happens when I'm a little slow on the throttle coming off the clutch. When I punch the throttle coming off the clutch, it doesn't do it. But, when one is going over speed bumps it is hard to really give it the full beans coming off the clutch.
The bucking can be rather violent. When bucking, the car's weight seems to uncontrollably bounce from rear to front to rear. It doesn't stop until I completely take my foot off the gas. I have owned many 944's and I never had this problem. (The 924S is quite awesome by the way. I like it better than a N/A 944.) It makes speed bumps a bit difficult.
Does anyone have an idea of what this is? FYI, I recently replace the engine mounts. _________________ Michael Simms

Sounds like the TPS might be either bad or out of adjustment. Try unplugging it to see if the issue goes away. Your idle will be higher with it unplugged but if it alleviates the bucking then you can go from there.
I hope that helps! _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

Thanks! I will try it.
Could it also be a Throttle Cable being out of adjustment? _________________ Michael Simms

I would think that the throttle cable would have to be really far out of adjustment to cause that. You would likely see a huge amount of slack in the cable when you popped the hood.
To further clarify, is the engine responsive when this happens or does the driveline has feel like it has slack? _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

It seems pretty responsive. _________________ Michael Simms

In that case, the rubber centered clutch may have broken and you are driving on the limp tabs. When that happens you have to ease on the clutch until the tabs catch and if you lift off it can cause bucking because the tabs come apart, disconnecting the engine from the transmission. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

I was afraid that was the problem. It behave like this is the problem. I could try the TPS first.
I don't know if the clutch was replaced prior to buying it. The owner said it was, but the records showed it done quite a well ago by a Porsche dealer. _________________ Michael Simms

Good Luck! Maybe someone here will have experienced this exact issue and be able to help you better. I would have it checked by a mechanic since it's almost impossible to diagnose symptoms without actually driving a car.
I hope it turns out to be something simple! _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

You might check motor mounts as well. _________________ Toofah King Bad
