so, being a metal fabricator, and a person heavily invested in sound:

My car being a 79, I have no cutouts/room for speakers in the door. I have 2 5.5inch MB Quart woofers, and 2 2in tweeters that I have been brain storming how to make work in the front.
I decided that I could make an enclosure for each speaker, affix the enclosure to the door frame, and cut a hole in the door card. After CAD, and programming on the laser, plus some horrible welding I shouldn't show on the net this is what I got

Fits the speakers mint

So now that I know they will work, Im going to have them powder coated to match the interior of the car, mold the foam for inside of them, and cut some rubber pads to create a gasket between them and the door.
HOORAH!

If anyone wants something like this I saved the CAD file, and have tons of .060 aluminum to make another 14 sets.

Up next: Amp rack behind pass. seat (rear seat area) and sub mounts.
Also a larger alternator
