My mounts are old and soft. About to replace. Whats the consensus on either?

Also: I CAN FINALLY TRUST IT!

Non. No squeaking/constant re-greasing issues.

Never had any problems with filling the mount on my 951. Also, its not as if the 924 is a particularly quiet car or that you need to grease transaxle mounts since the amount of movement involved should be miniscule.

A bigger issue for 924's is the lack of decent engine mounts, especially on the passenger or RH side.

I just can't STAND having to add 'remove bushings and re-grease' when the difference in performance just would not be noticeable in these cars. Unless you have completely ripped out ALL of the components and are replacing them entirely just replacing this one set would not be noticed in a blind taste test.

And my 931 is really quiet. . .

Never had to grease any of the polyurethane bushings I've ever used for transaxle or motor mounts. It's all about context.

I cleaned mine and filled them with polyurethane. There should be no reason to grease them as there is nothing rotating in the polyurethane.

Agree, pretty simple to fill with urethane. The bigger downside of doing this is that the solid mounts will transmit vibration to drive line and shift lever, especially if using the brass or delrin shift linkage bushings.

All I know is I have poly bushings on my Si and the bar and bushings are getting removed this weekend. And yes, they have been lubed properly with poly lube. Annoying, squeaky poly.

I made my own out of oilite bronze.....

So it is looking like its a healthy mix of preferences. Now, I have got a very healthy layer of dynamat throughout the car, so internal noise isnt much of a concern.

Any one have any idea where to buy these bushings? I posted this thread before I even started looking, just know that my bushings are s h o t shot.

This is something I could do, is there any write up you used?

Which bushings are you looking to buy? The brass shifter bushings are NLA. I can still get the OEM or the Delrin aftermarket, the latter of which I now prefer over brass. The brass are really nice for firm shifting, but on the street they do transmit what for some might be an annoying amount vibration into your hand and are noisy at certain resonant frequencies. The Delrin are nearly as firm with not nearly the noise or vibration.

If you're referring to the bushings for the G31 trans mounts, the bushings themselves are not available, and I believe the entire mount assembly is NLA. So to make them you would need to find a used pair, remove the rubber, and pour your desired material into the bracket. Keep in mind you can select a variety durometer hardnesses to achieve the desired compliance for your use.

Ideally knowing the stock firmness would be handy...
For previous engine mounts I used urethane inbetween the spaces to stiffen them, clean with grease remover, tape up one side of mount, get caulking gun and select urethane tube and inject it in, use scraper for excess on top side, can file it down/cut of excess after curing too depending on stiffness

This is what I guess I will have to do

I ordered my 80 durometer pourable polyurethane from McMaster-Carr. It was cheap and easy.

Hardest part will be getting it all clean enough to get the polyurethane to stick. Duct tape works well for sealing the off to create a mold.
