I just bought a very 924s and now it won't start. Worked fine yesterday and parked under the trees and cheered all the functions. All was fine.
Next it would not start. All went normal the started should have engaged. All was right on the dash light and the fuel pump went fine ...
Is this the relay that we save in the glove box?
Thanks, Mark _________________ Mark

No.
Verify the battery is good.
Make sure that you have 12 volts going to the starter via the large wire.
Check the small wire on the starter for 12v when the key is in the crank position.
All good so far? Yes- the starter is likely at fault.
You can hit it with a hammer (within reason)while cranking to see if it is stuck.
If you don't have 12v to the small wire while cranking, there's a problem with the ignition switch or wiring. You'll have to check for power in & out of the switch and possibly for continuity in the wires. |

You can also use the screwdriver to cross the little wire with the big wire with the key in the run position. It gets a little sparky down there when you do that. But, you'll know if the 12v are there for sure before you dig into the ignition switch. Even if you do, the 'crank' position of the switch might be bad. And, check your battery terminals, one might be loose, or corroded. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

The key need not be on, the car will start & keep running if you do and the starter is good.
Jumping the starter with a screwdriver doesn't prove or disprove the switch is bad, you could still have a power or wiring issue. |

I can't get udner the car but I did hit with a strong jumper set of the Lexis. No go.
The last thing I did before it stopped was testing the
AC and all those controls.
I just noticed that the oil gauge was dancing while the key is on & the engine isn't running.
Thanks. _________________ Mark
