|
|
Good day everyone.
I wonder if you could help me with a question?
We where working on my torque tube and clutch, but the mechanic (now ex-mechanic) forgot to put in transmission oil. I run the car this way for about 1 mile, maybe a bit more, without knowing there was no oil.
I had to do some work on the torque tube bearings due to the sloppy work of this ex-mechanic, the torque tube is now fixed, but before putting in the torque tube and gearbox...
I just wan't to know if the transmission could be damaged for running it without oil? Besides the obvious wich is opening the gearbox, is there any other way to tell if it's damaged?
Thanks !!

| I'd put oil in it and drive it **a little bit**. Then drain the oil and look for metal. If none, refill and off you go. If you find bits of metal and gear teeth, well, that's not as good of course. |

Unlikely, there would still be a film of oil on internals which would protect for a short while _________________ Over the top of skyline, total brake failure.... hit the wall at over 200 kp/h at the dipper, so anyone who has to brake for the esses is a pussy.

Two synchronizer insters where broken
So i'm going to "refresh" everything, check for any further faults...
