|
|
I'm getting into the fuel system in my '80 931 resurrection project and with the amount of gunk I found in the tank I may be replacing the fuel pumps. The in-tank pump runs about $200 and the external one runs another $100 or more. A Walbro 255 LPH pump costs about $100 in either in-tank or external form. Is anyone using one of those? _________________ '80 931 |

Yes, but you will most likely have to fabricate fitments etc.
You can also buy replica 044 pump that has the same dimensions as stock pump.
You can just gut the in-tank pump, early 924's and later 944's did not have in-tank pump. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

If you decide on one pump, get the 924S/944 intank fuel filter to replace the original intank fuel pump. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Or you can use early 924 inline pre-pump filter or some analogue, that will be easier and cheaper. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Why not both?
I was advised to use both pumps, the intank avoids vapour lock... Thats what the specialist told me... |

In all due respect, I can consider myself specialist in these matters and there is no point in buying two expensive pumps on a regular 931....
Later cars dropped the in-tank pump and there are no issues with the fuel delivery if the placement of the pump remains the same... _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp
