|
|
Hi guys,
My name is Sam and I recently purchased a 1978 924. I've had a few technical issues with it, but the only one that keeps me from driving it is the brake light switch.
We traced the issue down, and it is most likely the switches on the MC. I was wondering a few things, because I plan to install a pedal mount switch to avoid this problem in the future.
1. Which switch is the main switch? (towards the car or towards the firewall)
2. How do I go about pulling the wires back/ where do they come in to the interior?
3. Which wires do I need to attach to my new switch and which ones attach where? There is a blue, red w/ black, and red w/ white (Pic included below of the new switch)
Thanks in advance! Hopefully I can get her back on the road this weekend! Also, I hope this post makes sense. It's hard posting on a smartphone.

Neither. They are wired in series.

Cut the connectors off and pull the wiring into the footwell. That's what I did on my 79 when I put a 944 brake light switch on it.

If I remember correctly, though it is easily double checked via the wiring diagrams on the Pelican Parts website, its the red/white striped wires that connect to a normally open switch that is closed when the switch is moved.

I sometimes find this problem on the Martini, usually after I have been messing with the brakes. Try Removing and replacing the +ve battery lead with the ignition switched on, sometimes the 2 m/cyl switches get out of sync for some reason and this resets it. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

| When the time comes, switch to the larger 23mm master cylinder from a 81 or later 924/931. It does have the provision for the switches on the master cylinder, and is considerable cheaper than the earlier/small diameter master cylinder of the earlier model cars. |

Wont work. Brake line routing changed in 1980 _________________ Stefan
