Hello board,
my 924S has been sitting for about a year and a half while I was away and I just tried to start it. It cranked a few weak cranks and then stopped cranking, seemingly stuck.
I'm really concerned the timing belt had slipped, but there is no way I know to tell as I cannot turn the engine by hand either to see if the timing marks align.
Please advise how I can move forward with this. I trust the brilliant solutions this board can come up with! Thank you _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S Black/Black. 5-spd.

Have you tried to turn the motor a few degrees backwards? Starter may be jammed. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Remove the starter, check to see if it the bendix is jammed on the ring gear.
Pull the belt covers and check condition.
Check clutch operation.
Clean area near each spark plug of all debris
Pull plugs, squirt some clean oil into each cylinder, leave plugs out.
Put car in neutral
Turn crankshaft at front pulley with a long breaker bar.
Bent valves should not keep the motor from turning backwards a few degrees. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Have you checked the battery? 18 months will often kill even a new battery.
...unles you a trickle charger. _________________ Mark
