Looks like he has gone 'walkabout' to coin a phrase from the Aussies. His cars and parts are now owned elsewhere. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Fair Question.
While I have basically been reading this list for many years, it has always been in the background. My work travels always kept me away from actually being able to do something with these cars. (An '80 and '81 931 in this case) Now things have settled down a good bit I have started to resurrect very long dormant projects.
Taking the '80 and wanting to create a manifold similar to, or a heads up copy of, what Steve had created for his car. I knew the car had been parted but was hoping to contact him to possibly find out who built it up for him.
Wanted to keep this off list really until I actually had made progress on my endeavors, just to keep the coulda / woulda / shoulda type of conversations from cluttering up the list. Nothing more than that.

Which manifold? Intake or Exhaust?
The intake was a more or less standard DCOE style intake with DCOE-style EFI throttle bodies. Several companies make drop-in repalcements for the Weber DCOE carbs that are ready for intjectors. I think Steve used Extrudabody, but TWM, Jenvey and others are available. The plenum is a pretty straightforward aluminum box with an intake port added to middle of one edge and a set of "horns" machined into the mating plate for the throttle bodies.
The exhaust has been replicated in similar ways by a couple of people here, mostly just takes hanging the turbo in the engine bay where it fits best and using old coat hangers and PVC pipe sections to help lay out the piping bends.
Quite a lot of things Steve did were impressive and have been built upon by several here, so while he's on "walkabout" we can help you with your project, no need to sit in the dark and try to figure it out on your own or over think it and make it more complex than necessary. _________________ Stefan

The exhaust manifold.
Have already been speaking to a fabricator to possibly / probably build it up (he has done a good number of 944/951 manifolds). Was just wanting to find out about any gotchas relating to this specific case before I got the meter running. Either during the fab work itself or the 'what would I change if I did it all over again' hindsight perspective. While I can wrench, I can not weld, so having to farm this bit out.
Regarding others who have already gone down this road, I slipped up and overlooked Wes's build.
As I get steps done I will post the status, but this will be spread out over the next year so nothing will be happening quickly.
