Thinking about an early spring meet and greet in Medicine Park, OK, its a really cool prohibition hideaway near Lawton OK. Good food and shops there, fun driving too. Post here if you might be interested. Thinking about mid March, early April.

Here's some details about Medicine Park. Wichita Mountains are right there too. http://www.medicinepark.com/

I had the pleasure of getting to know this area on a few brief visits to Lawton when my son was stationed at Fort Sill. Wichita Mountains and the Meers Country Store are awesome.

Meers Country Store serves beef from their own private longhorn herd. The beef is 90% lean and quite excellent. The fresh fruit cobblers are served in helpings bigger than your head, and the house-made vanilla ice cream is delicious. The eatery also features Meers Gold Beer, a unfiltered wheat brew handcrafted by the Krebs Brewing Company using the original recipe from the Choctaw Nation. Perfect for washing down one of the burgers (also bigger than your head!)

Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge has one of the largest and oldest free range Bison herds in the US, and also features frequent sightings of Elk and free range (wild) Longhorn steer. It is THE largest contiguous mixed grass prairie remaining in the US. It also supports a large indigenous population of black-tailed Prairie Dogs.

Within the preserve is also a chapel known as the Holy City of the Wichitas, reputed to be the site of the longest running passion play in the US. It features several buildings constructed entirely from local materials, which are used to depict the stations of the cross. The buildings alone make for an interesting visit regardless of your religious persuasion.

Along Highway 49, there is an access road that takes you to the top of Mount Scott, which affords 360° panoramic views of the entire region, worth a detour if you have the time. For other driving adventures, Highway 115 intersects with the park road (49) just west of Mount Scott, and provides a few stretches of decent twisties on the way north out of the park and to Meers.

It's 19 hours of driving to get there from MI, so I think I'll give this one a miss...but the drive through the park and the food at Meers Country Store is not to be missed!

Thanks for the props, Dan. It is a great place to meet and check out. Ride the bike down there quite often. Thought the place would do good seeing some twofah action. I saw a group of 911s there last summer.....
