Hey guys so I am just about to send off a WUR and fuel distributor to Special T for rebuild and I have about 5 FD cores to choose from. My problem is that despite having the proper part number for a 931 (931.110.907.00) I cannot find it on any of the cores I have. On the Bosch ID tag is the core make number, 438-100-048 but then under that is a hand stamped random number ,none of which match anything.

Help ?

I'm not sure what you are asking. Is it you want to verify that PN 0-438-100-048 is a Bosch CIS Fuel Distributor FD73X Porsche 924 80-81 1983cc engine (cf. Bosch Fuel Distributors at Special T and said to fit 1980-2 924 Turbo)?

Also see gegge's post 3/4 the way down this thread What Air Flow Meter is this? on the 924 Board.

According to AutoPartoo Bosch PN 0 438 100 048 is interchanged with Porsche PN 931 110 907 01 and according to SpecialT Auto the parts you list, (Bosch PN 0 438 100 048 and Porsche PN 931 110 907 00 are interchangeable) and are for the Porsche 924 2.0 Turbo 7-79 to 6-82 J, USA. (Scroll 2/5-ths down the hyper-linked page listed just above to see the listed notice of their identity or use Edit -> Search for the PNs on that page.)

I guess what i'm stumped on is that if you look at the blue Bosch tag on the pic above you can see the 0-438-100-048 number in white. ALL Porsche 924 FD's have this number. But under that number on the tag is another hand stamped 6 digit number as well as another hand stamped 3 digit number to the right of that.

Do those numbers mean anything else ?

Thanks brother,

Leigh

I don't know.

Bosch sometimes stamped the last three digits of its long 10-digit number on parts but I haven't seen that done on a fuel distributor. More often Bosch sometimes used a three digit code for dates where the first digit is the last digit of the year and the second two digits either the months numbered from 21 Jan to 32 Dec. or quarter years 33 to 36.

Often the unique number stamped is the date of manufacture if it's composed of 7 to 9 digits (with occasionally a space after the first three digits).

I wonder if it's a coincidence that on this image, the fuel distributor plate number "92" corresponds with the engine type 92 KW for the 924 NAs manufactured around 1980? fuel distributor image:

In any case, I can't decipher how the numbers stamped in this image might correspond to a production date in accordance with those guidelines summarized above.

Taking a wild guess for your 3-digit number: Is it possible the number(s) on any of your fuel distributor plate(s) are among of the following: 85, 92, 110, 115, 125, 130, 154? If so, then those numbers might reflect the engine type (cf., pg. 410 in linked catalogue).
