Now my passenger's window works (only from the switch on the driver's side, the switch on the passenger's door only goes up) it has developed an annoying habit of dropping out of it's track at the font and disappearing nose-first into the door!

It did it yesterday, I put it back this mornig and the bastard thig has done it again. Anyone have any ideas why???

On my ML, this was caused by a broken window regulator, a problem that seems to happen on the 924s too. If you life the window half way up and then see if you can move it out of its track easily, most likely your window regulator is kaput. Here is the part you are looking at buying. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-944-s-turbo-924s-power-window-regulator-left-or-right-/181255083790?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a33a5170e&vxp=mtr

There are many others, so do your research, and of course I could be wrong.

Thanks for this. I can't see any sign of anything being broken but who knows?? I am wonderig if it is an assembly problem, it has been in the garage for a few jobs to be done, I know they have been in the door and a few things don't seem quite right!

There are hard plastic rollers that wear over time and slip out of the tracks, which then causes the window to come untracked. Sometimes you can replace just the plastic rollers (they snap on) with used rollers salvaged from a donor regulator, rather than replacing the entire regulator. However, the plastic is often brittle and can break. Once you're this far into it, it's probably best to just replace the entire regulator. I don't know what the supply is like in NZ, but the regulators are a dime a dozen on eBay, so you should be able to find a suitable replacement fairly inexpensively. If you have trouble finding one locally, I probably have a couple of good units lying about.
