Trying to get the beastie running unsuccessfully and looked at the electrical connector from the ignition control to the distributor. One wire had one strand left connected which broke at the slightest movement and the other not much better. I had found this earlier and attempted a repair, obviously it didn't work. Can I push the pins out of that small plastic connector and repair it or do I need an entire new cable?

Would this cable end be common to other Bosch distributors something VW or AUDI where I could just get a new pigtail and splice it in?

I don't have any good ideas on how to solve this one.

I went to the pay and pull in Colorado Springs looking for the connector. The one 924 they had didn't have that piece of wire harness, all of the VW Rabbit's and Saabs had 3 wire connectors so this is probably another one of the NLA parts. With the help of a Porsche specialist shop in CSprings who took the connector apart into 3 pieces and the local Land Cruiser restorer who showed me how to push the pins out it came apart. I soldered on new wire leads and reassembled it and it works quite well.

Cut the plug off.
Connect 2 x small speaker crimp female connections to the wire and the external sheathing wire.
Insulate the connections down to the end (I used amalgamating tape).
Connect to the pins in the distributor socket.
If the car wont fire, reverse the connections.
Been in place on my car for the last 7 years without any problems.
