In traffic the coolant temp used to stay at the halfway point.

Now it keeps on going up until the red if I don't get moving on time!

Did a visual inspection and it seems as though the fan isn't turning. Ever.

Going to check the fan relay and thermo switch when I have time, but is there something else to check first? Should I start by checking the fan motor?

#1 thing to check is to make sure the two leads haven't worked their way off of the temp sender at the top of the rad.

Then run thru the diagnostics here:
http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/cool-01.htm

The stuff listed for the early cars is close enough to what you'll need to diagnose your problem.

I'd ensure your coolant level is good. If you're not familiar with bleeding these systems, it's easy to end up with a big air bubble in the cooling system which will stop the fans from turning on.

I would look at disconnected wires on water temp sensor like mentionned ideola.
Also might be the fan motor that is dead
(if that is the case I have an oem rad fan from my 1979 working well)

So I did some testing And it seems as though my fan relay is busted. Ideola, thanks for the helpful resource and thanks to everybody else who helped out!

For what it is worth, Iwired in an idiot light on the dash, so Iknow for sure when the fan is on.It is a 924. They do have issues. Happy Motoring.
