Has anyone ever put 17" cup 2 rims, on a stock 944? And if so, what was the tire size used, front and rear? I have these on my 85.5 stock 944 by the previous owner, and not sure it's right, looks nice.... But ??? Sidewalls are awful close to the springs on the front, maybe wrong spacers? Wrong offset? If anyone can shed some light on this for me, that would be much appreciated. Thanks cheers.

Okay before anyone answers or has an answer, the P.O. Had put on what appears to be 17x10 on the rear without spacers and 255/4017 rubber, and 17x9 on the front with 1.5" spacers with 235/4017 rubber, and now I have changed only the 2 front tires with 215/5017, they closer in height with the rears, but only have min clearance from springs... (10 mm) are there 2.0" spacers avail??? Or do I need to find new rims?? Like 17x7, or 17x8? Please help!!!?

Since your car is '85.5 you'll need early ET wheels (23.3). You can use late ET 53 wheels with spacers. Cup2 wheels are usually late ET. Perhaps it is just easier to find right size spacers than to find 16" or 17"early ET wheels.

Now in your opinion, would you just add a 10mm spacer on top of the 1.5 adapter that's bolted to the hub? Or remove the adapter altogether, and replace with a 2" adapter? This is a headache I never thought I'd encounter, no wonder why I got this car so cheap...... Cause it's eating tires !!! Uggggggh

Well when I got the car it had 235/4017's on the front, and had a broken spring on R/F, that had eaten the inner sidewall out from rubbing, then had both springs and struts and both control arms replaced, pitched the 2 front tires, and now running a pair of 215/5017's.... But they still seem close to the spring(s), that's what I mean by eating, they did an alignment when I had all that work done, and advised me to replace the front tires, I'm not sure how much space is req or what was originally stock space between sidewall and spring??? ..... More than a fingers with???

A finger's width is fine with street tires. Race tires with stiffer side walls can go a little closer.

To post pics you need to upload pics to a hosting site like photobucket, Flickr, etc. There are apps available for free with the ipad/iPhone to upload pics to the service of your choice. Once uploaded, then post the link to the photo you want to share in your message by using the "img" button above the text, pasting the link and then pressing the "img" button again to close the loop. You'll do this for each picture you want to post.

HTH and Good luck!

Thanks fiat22turbo, for the info, I think I'm going to try and find some OEM 15" or 16" and be done with these 1.5" spacers I have on the front, I don't care what style.... Phone dials, cookie cutters, Fuchs. I'm just hoping somebody has a set they want to sell, as long as they have the early offset, I should be good to go.... Unless you know of any after market brands that are available out there, I can't seem to find any web sights that offer the 5x130 and the correct offset, just want to drive and enjoy, I'm beginning to feel buyers remorse......

I'd check on the Pelican parts forum, lots more 944 folks there that might be willing to buy your wheels.

you just need 85 or older 944 wheels and you'll be good to go. check kijiji and ebay.ca and you might get lucky. Porsche wheels are stupid expensive sometimes, its just annoying at times.

Yeah I hear ya, just thought the 44 was already a driver, and joined this forum to focus on the 24's, maybe that's what I should keep doing !!! Ha ha ha...... Rasta suggested I search a Porsche salvage yard for some used rims, I wish it was that easy, we simply don't have Porsche salvage yards out here, a few small mechanic shops who deal with euro cars, and 2 VW/Audi/Porsche dealerships. I tried on here first cause everyone on here has been such a huge help to me with the 24's, it's amazing!!! Well if you know of anyone that has a set of early offset, please pass on my info, I've got it posted on the want ads section already, thanks again. CHEERS !!!!
