I'm going to change my timing belt because I'm not sure how long this one has been on my engine. To do so I need to remove two other V belts to get to the timing belt. My question is I see some piece of metal on the fromt of the engine. I think is is the tensioner for the A/C belt but I am not sure. I appears to have an adjustment on the top with a shaft and bolt. Anyone have a clue if this is right? _________________ I love gereatric rock. |

I got out my Haynes and found all the tension adjustments. I removed the radiator fill and removed the Alternator cooling hose. I was able to remove the A/C belt but could not loosen the Alternator bolts. They are behind the central pulley so I had to cut the belt off. Tried to install the timing belt but ran into a problem at the bottom. I think I will have to remove the skid plate under the front end to get the timing belt on correct. Does that sound right? _________________ I love gereatric rock. |

| Yes it is the tensioner for the AC and it will be easier if you remove the skid plate so you can see from underneath. You have to get those alt bolts loose in order to get the alt belt back on , try holding the nut in back with a socket and use an open end wrench on the front ( thats how I got mine). |

Thanks for all the help. I finally got the engine back together. It halted the stopping during cranking. I adjusted the distributor to get it to spark and run. My son and I spent about a hour and half just getting the alternator belt on. But a happy feeling when it was done.
