Does anyone have a good part number for an oil sending unit (81 Turbo) or does anyone have one that they would like to unload?

Thanks

BillA

The part number is 047 919 561 (same part is used on both the NA and 931).

I do not presently have an inexpensive source for these. They are something like $110 new, and I can only get them direct from Porsche. They used to be available from some of the big catalog / wholesalers, but no more (at least as far as I've been able to determine).

I noticed Patrick Motorsports has one listed on EBAY for the 911, 914, but they report that it comes with an adaptor. It looks very much the same as the one for our cars... Guess the 911 & 914 need an adaptor? Wonder if this one will work?

It may be just a generic Bosch 0-150 sender.

E-Gauges is a good shop, I bet they can help you.

VDO p/n 360.032 will work, 10bar, 10-180 ohms and a 12psi switch

and yes I know our gauges are not bar, but the difference is very small

As Rasta says, try Egauges.com. Got mine there, about $27 IIRC. Genuine VDO unit without Porsche tax. Its a M10 x 1.0 pitch thread.

Can't find the 360-032 part at eGauges, but they appear to have one with the same specs listed above, 360-033:
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_indS.asp?Sender=150PSI_10Bar&PN=360-033

It is $55 + shipping.

This one also appears to be readily available at several of the other large catalog resellers.

The difference between those two appears to be in the warning contact, i.e. at what PSI should the warning light be triggered? The -033 model triggers at 29.7psi, and the -023 model at 7psi. So my guess would be the latter.

Got my hands on the 360-023 from e-gauges, and discovered a tapered thread. Per VDO tech support, this is all they sell in M10x1.0. They stated if I needed a true straight thread, they could not supply it.

Weighing my options. . .a little uncomfortable attacking my head with a part that should "work," but will alter the OP sender fitting.

Opinions?

Isn't the original a tapered thread?

Original is a straight thread with sealing ring. Runs all the way into my thread checker silky smooth. The one I got from E gauges does not.
