Well I got this car from my cousing a 1 year ago, it was a total mess, no transmission, engine was out, lots of parts missing...
Today this is what has been done to the car...

New 4 speed transmissión with new CV joints
Megasquirt II
Completely EFI
Custom build intake
MSD fuel pump
VW 1.8T inyectors
custom made fuel rail
new fuel pressure regulator
etc... I cannot remember most of the parts it has...
Right now the car is running, except it has a leak in the famous crankshaft seal... And needs some work on the brakes

Some pictures of the car

There is some issues I still have to fix, the headlights went up and now the won't go down...
It doesn't have a radio...
The car won't stop... brakes shot

Center console is broken...

Looks...interesting. Subscribed
As a side-note, if the factory motor for the headlights is still installed, you can pull the rubber cover off of the motor and turn the knob on the back of it to raise and lower them manually.
Have fun! Once you get all the bugs worked out, it'll be a fun little thing to tool around in
Oh, and welcome to the world of Toofahs!

Welcome! I'd love to see more details on your EFI conversion and intake modifications, they look very interesting.

As for your issues, this might give you some ideas on the headlight issue:

As for the brakes, have you adjusted the rear drums? They do not auto adjust and if they are out of adjustment can cause really spongy brakes. Also build yourself a pressure bleeder for the brakes and change fluid first and check your flexible brake lines for damage.

Otherwise pads are cheap for the front.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips!!
There's also something I want to change is the fuel rail, it's working, but not as good looking as i might want it to be
I would like something like this.

Hopefully i'm gonne get the crankshaft seal fixed by wednsday...

About the brakes, they stop, but they are very weak, like you said "spongy"...

I'm going to double check the adjustment...

So hopefully as soon as we get it ready, i'm going to post a video of the car running with the mega...

Hi from the land of northern lights!! Nice work, please post more on your EFI project. Other posters are using the neon rails, perhaps that's what you need?? JIM

Ok, so the leak has been fixed, and also the brakes...
But now it won't start... maybe a vacuum leak, we need to check...
And also a bit of bad news, as soon as I turned on the lights a bit of smoke came out beneath the dash... So I guess some wiring work needs to be done...

Some pictures...

Well it was an alternator problem, problem fixed, no we're finishing some electric details...

I have just one question?
All gear links seem to be fine, but changes feel very spongy and hard? What could it be?

She's a beaut! A wing on the back of the early cars helps the look of them so much, it's astounding.

More pics please!

Thanks!!!
A night ride...

PD:
I have a problem, i'm guessing is the shift linkage, the car will NOT engage reverse and it's very difficult to put it in 1st or neutral...
The shift knob will go too far away...
And for some reason 2 and 4th are too short.
Any ideas?
