| I have just had my 924 for a couple of weeks now and I am trying to get issues fixed. Right now I am trying to replace the motor in the passenger side window, but I can't get it out with the armature attached, and I don't see a good way to take that off. The holes in the door panel don't seem large enough. What am I missing? Sloppy shifter, odometer gear, and brakes are next! Ahhh. The joys of Porschedom! |

On some cars you have to remove and replace the motor AND regulator, and you can't buy one or the other. This may not be true for the 924, as I've never had my door apart. _________________ 81 924 Weissach Celebration Edition (just traded) |

| I finally got it removed. It took a lot of coaxing, but I pulled it out the wider hole at the bottom of the door opening. I installed the new motor, but a word of caution to new people trying this! The window gears are under tension, so when you remove the motor, the gears move also. Now I have to hope I get them in the right position when its all put back together. The ebay motor did not work, so I am doing a repair job on the old one and crossing my fingers. Now I have to try to break a castellated nut loose to finish my brakes! Had it soaking over night. I will try heat if lube doesn't work. |

Wish I saw this earlier.
Yes, it's a bit of puzzle-solving to get the motor+arms in or out. I found it best to have the window arms at "half-way" to do that. And it's also a two-person job: the second person is needed to hold the window. Or at least, that's what Dad and I found. We never tried doing it solo.
