I am president of a campus club that is building a 924 to run in a Chump Car race New Years Eve at Laguna Seca. I bought the car last October and drove it home, so it did run and drive. I drained all the fluids, including gas, when the club started working on the car.

Time came yesterday to try and start the car again. It has fresh fluids, new gas, new fuel filter, etc. Car would turn over and give the occasional sputter, but wouldn't start. When I picked up the car, the starter was broken so we had to push start it, could that have affected the timing and prevent it from starting now.

Where should I look? The car is getting spark, and I know fuel is getting through the fuel filter. It want's to start, I can tell but I need your help. Any tips you can provide would be excellent.

Thanks

1. I would check the wiring order, just in case they got mixed up, put the first cylinder to tdc and look at the location of rotor.

2. Check the coil, I've had cars start but not continue to run because of the coil.

3. I usually shoot a bit of starting fluid into the air intake when starting a dried out car. Becareful not to much. If it fires it is fuel related.

Did you replace the fuel filter?

If it's fuel injected, check the injectors and make sure you have fuel pressure at the rail?

I like oiling the cylinders with fogging oil, before starting a dry engine.
