Paul,

If you're coming through Omaha, I think the some of the "Omaha Crew" would be up for a meeting.

Regardless, if you're thinking about taking I - 80 West of Lincoln, consider taking Nebraska 92 instead. I -80 is under construction from just west of Lincoln all the way to Grand Island. That's turned a 90 minute trip into 3 hours at certain times of the day.

Tom

So what is the plan, just show up at the track sometime Saturday morning? The better half says: "Hotel" since with all her other stuff, there is no room for camping gear. Anything nearby?

Who all is attending?

Anybody need anything small from WI?

Thanks everyone, still trying to get everything in order at home and work and to convince ourselves to do this....

I think everything is order, so we plan to hit the road Wed morning.

Plan to stop in Chamberlain, SD the first night and Missoula, MT the second arriving in Portland late Friday afternoon.

See you there!

Next we'll probably head up to BC for a few days.

Jealous! Haven't been to the Black Hills in years, and you're heading that way!

That's Brisbane to Townsville (near enough Vancouver to Regina, for the Canucks)!

Quite the hike...

Made it to Chamberlain with no issues. Having dinner at Casey's Cafe overlooking the Missouri river.

869 miles planned for tomorrow.

Arrived at the track on Friday afternoon having a great time!

I would appreciate some advice from our Canadian board members:

Is this doable in a Porsche with low ground clearance and nice paint (I assume none of these roads are unpaved and are similar to US interstates):

Portland to North Vancouver

North Vancouver to Whistler

Whistler to Calgary

Calgary to Regina

Regina to Winnepeg

Winnepeg to Nelson, WI (Stone Barn Pizza)

Nelson to home.

What speeds can I expect if I follow the locals?

Any issues with gasoline stations being more than 250 miles apart? Is premium available along the route (93 octane US)?

Any issues just walking into the next hotel we see each evening?

Any construction especially tar and chip going on?

TIA

I don't forsee any issues, but I haven't traveled all the roads you'd need this side of the border, and I can't speak for any current roadwork either.

Gas is pretty much the same here as there (the rating scale is, but the formulation is a little different), except it's taxed way more.

Speed limits are similar to the 'states too. Biggest highways 110 Km/h (70 MPH), lesser ones slower. Many times it seems it's a suggestion only.
