I have a co-worker with a 924S. He has a fuel leak from either the fuel line (part number 944-356-943-03 or 944-356-945-03) and needs it replaced. Is there a way to replace the lines with new ones for cheaper than $200+ that most parts places want?

When I bought my '87 there was a brass line spliced in the fuel line right over the intake structure. It was a bullet casing with the primer cut off.

Don't know how long it had been there. I noticed the line was soft there, so I cleaned it up and replaced the brass with copper line using double camps each end.

It still holds up. However, I don't recommend that for long. There is a long list of deferred maintenance that I've been working through for the past 3 years. (a stroke 2 years ago has slowed me down a bit ) If you use copper, be sure to check the line weekly at least because a fuel leak will blow up in you face.

here is an excellent write-up on fuel line replacement. Not sure if it covers your situation.

Just from quickly looking at the website it appears that kit is for the late 944. I didn't see an early kit on the site, but if that is the one you are talking about, then it will work. The 924S uses the early fuel lines which are a little longer.

Also, you can just order the parts to make your own kit and save some money. I ran all new lines from the tank to the engine for less than the cost of these kits... just throwing that out there.
