I came across a 1980 924 turbo. The owner believes that it is one of five special edition turbos done by Brumos in 1980 and perhaps even belonged to Peter Gregg. As a skeptic, I am trying to find out if there really was a special edition turbo. vin is 93A0153324.

Not sure about how many of these exist, but I think the assertion that the car was dressed up by Brumos Porsche in Atlanta (the car dealer, not the racing team) could well be accurate. . .but the Peter Gregg part probably not.

I looked at an ad one of these a few years back on a collector website (perhaps this one), and it looks like a fun car to own.

The 1980 931 was available as an "S" version, which by some accounts included the M471 5-lug suspension setup with "Gullideckel" (trash can) wheels, possibly LSD-equipped G31, leather seats with cloth inserts, 14" leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, and some (but not all) apparently came with an "S" decal on the hood and above the rear sidemarkers. See more info here: http://www.924.org/models/924_S_model.htm

It's possible the "special edition" was alluding to this package.

I don't have any insight on the Brumos claim.

Perhaps this is the car?

Appears to have Fuchs, custom striping, possibly a cosmetic-only hood scoop, and some custom side- and rear-skirts.

Hmmm...I didn't even think I was looking at something special when I seen this the other day on CL.I just thought somebody slapped some stickers and body kit parts on it.

Seems logical that Brumos would do a special edition. Would be a good buy for the money, seems like a low price, maybe got some gremlins. Wish I could go get it.
