alternator cooling? wtf

So I read in another thread that someone had a intact alternator cooling system.

wtf is this? I have a shroud on mine, looks like piping hooked up to it at some point, but it is missing now.

What is this system? air cooled i would assume, if indeed it is an alternator cooling system. I am confused by this, having never seen nor heard of it before this car.

That being said, here is a picture of a properly setup duct looks like.

This person replaced the original duct with aluminum flex duct.

I really does make alternators last longer. You should hook it back up.

Oh, indeed. makes sense to me. Ill be sure to grab some duct work, and hook that sucker up. thanks for the input man
