Went out to her at about 10, car didnt start, cranked for a bit, then started wrenching up on me: I went to work on her and I just finished up. My starting and running issues may be resolved......fingers crossed:lol:

I found a few grounds that were unplugged. Checked the coil for proper ohms and voltage: fine. Went and checked for proper electrical readings at all engine compartment fittings:fine. Checked for proper fuel coming out of the dizzy: all 4 injectors spit out the same amount. Used a few different fuel pump relays, and a jumper too....about the same result everytime.
Applied dielectric grease to all electrical connectors i could find, every where in/out car. tightened up my grounds etc.....

Then,

I noticed the aux. air pump had no belt.....how did i not see this before!!?!?!? well, i ripped that system apart as well, and cleaned the piss out of it, relubed the pump, hooked it up, installed belt. ensured tightness on the belts.
Pulled off the assorted vaccuum valves and cleaned the bejesus out of those as well.(I have all new vaccuum lines I previously installed last week)

Alright! I was thinking if it started up, I would adjust the fuel/air mix, as many on here had advised me to do from the get go of my issues.

Well: what did she do? She fired right up. Huzzah! I dicked around with the air/fuel screw for awhile, and found a sweet spot.(many back fires later!)Also during this time, it was firing on what many call a "hot start" cycle

I took her for a shakedown run, and all seemed very well. very tight feeling, very responsive. I got it hot for a few miles, and brought it home.

Air temp outside is roughly 39 degrees today, and i let it sit for an 1.25 hours . Went outside: she fired up ASAP. ran it till it was at temp and shut it off. no backfire!!!!!(huzzah!)It was "skipping" a bit, until i depressed the accelerator some for a second, then evened out/perhaps still a tad rich running(i turned that screw ALOT)

Long story short: no more misfires, and it starts. it is looking like i am close to home with this sonofabitch

Your AAV must be very different from mine... what belt?

Glad to hear that it's running.

Books call it the auxillary air pump. It is driven directly from the crank. My crank pulley has 3 grooves: outer most is water pump/alternator. Middle is AC, and the inner most is for the air pump.

Colloquially referred to as "smog pump", and not to be confused with the AAV (auxiliary air valve), which is the CIS-equivalent to a choke for improving cold start...

Smog pump doesnt have a technical ring to it though

Mostly because it is a huge POS and should be jettisoned as quickly as possible.
