Hello all,
i bought a `82 NA 924 here in germany, not sure if i part it out and sell some of the parts (including the towing hook).Or fix it and keep it.
The problem is the owner has all papers and the door keys but can not find the ignition key.
What is the best way to solve that problem?
Thanks,

I would take the ignition barrel to a locksmith with the lock key to get it adjust to fit, or
Buy a use ignition barrel with the key from used place / Ebay or else _________________ 1976 924 N/A ROW SOLD

You could borrow one (+keys) for the time being, kumpel
(Golf chassis is being restored over a long period of time).
Let me know if you'd like to recieve a package…

Yes, 100% since its a type 17 part number from the Vdub bin: 171 905 851
(A simular number like this ### 905 851 is common on other vehicels)

Yeah I know (the locaction/event) but at the end of april

(Crisis? What crisis? Aah, look; more beer!)
I'll be volunteering behind the bar

Inserting the key is already unlocking the pin BUT it's kept in place by a spring.
The keys first quarter-turn actualy makes the block retrackt from the steering column.
So… dismantle the steering column leevers and wires, remove the hex-bolt on the left side
leave any key inserted and see if you can wiggle it up and down.
In my setup it would come off surprisingly easy!
Another solution if you just need it to flow electricity (or starting)
is by taking the power sleeve terminal housing of the starter switch,
have a spare starter switch (white, priced about €23,-) to attach to it,
and use a screwdriver/key to make it rotate: Power.
Taking the actual key lock out does require drilling; See link for pics…
DIY: Removing the lock cylinder from ignitionhousing.
…maybe you'll feel more comfortable now you've seen the proces
Have fun, and let me know if you need the/any part.
Kind regards, Harm.

Eventually I will become mature
and get my Toofah over to Dinslaken.
It will take a few years though
Fix it and keep it!
Good luck, Harm.
