|
|
Hi guys,
I'm busy fabricating a rotisserie so I can spin the shell on its axis during restoration for easier access to underneath.
Ideally of course I need to locate the axis of rotation of the spit mounts at the centre of gravity of the shell (no mechanicals fitted).
Now I can estimate that height, or find it by trial and error, but I'm for sure not the first person to go down this route so can anyone advise from experience the height of the C of G (measured from a convenient datum such as the base of the sills)?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers

Did a quick check through the Porsche 924 Workshop Manual (Volume 4 - Body, Electrics) and no direct answer.
However I do know of at least one (can't recal his name/car ATT) US member that uses one.
Or, would the 944 rotisserie have the same centre of gravity? (Pelican?)
Good luck on the restoration!
Kind regards, Harm. _________________ Porsche 924 NA 1982 LY7A/A3A3 _ Greater driving pleasure never harmed anyone. |

Assuming the shell and parts in it have roughly central C of G left to right, and it probably won't be perfect, I would make the height of the pivots adjustable, then it can adjusted to correct balance as well as being reusable on any other projects. You might want some sort of locking or clamp mechanism to stop rotation and hold the shell firmly at the desired angle.
Not really much help, and you may have allready thought of it and decided against it, but if you going to the trouble of building something, you dont want to do it twice. _________________ I KNEW white wall tyres were invented by Americans .....just not at Boeing.... to be fitted on the 737..... |
