| New owner of a 1982 924 Turbo, wife's valentine present. The car was on ebay a few weeks ago and the owner , Porsche mechanic, has worked on my 912 and some of my driver cars. I am located 35 miles northwest of Indianapolis. Will post some pics when I get more familiar with the board. BTW, wife surprised me after the ebay try, and we decided not to get another Porsche as we only have a 2 car garage. I am pretty much a air cooled person, but what a absolute fun car to drive! jerryg |

Riiiiight...
Allow me to be the first to say... Bwahahahaha! Welcome to the dark side!
I have a serious thing for the old dak-daks... um... I mean "Porsches"
But you're gonna love that thing, I promise. Every now and then a company grabs a box of leftover bits and makes something properly stunning. Porsche did it with the 924 Turbo (Lately, BMW did it with the 1-Series M... not allowed to call it the M1, sadly).
And you have the best one, the '82.
Congrat's. Enjoy! _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Hey, welcome aboard...
...if you don't know when the timing belt & tensioner were last serviced, you should do it immediately before driving any further. The belt is like $7, the tensioner like $30, and the service is very easy to do. The engine is interference, so you don't want to risk running the car on a belt of unknown age or use.
BTW, we'd love to see pix! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

| but after being retired 4 years, I've slowed considerably. Anyway, the latest issue of 9 Magazine has an article, and pictures of this car, in it. I assume Tony, the owner and restorer of this car has taken care of the tensioner and belt. He drove it to the Parade in Savana, and then made a trip back to the Mille, or whatever, in Atlanta. He is a Porsche certified mechanic on 924's. And does a very good job on the 912, when needed. But thanks for the tips. jerryg |
