Just like the title says, what kind of gas mileage does the good old 931 get?
I am just curious how good the CIS is compared to EFI.

So an 82' with a 327 ratio out of a 1986 951 should get 30+?

Thats my goal for now is something fun to drive with better then 25mpg.

Mine rarely went as high as 25mpg and was more commonly around 22mpg. Of course it's totally dependent on where and how you're driving, beautifully illustrated in a Top Gear episode where a Toyota Prius driven flat-out got worse fuel economy than a BMW M3 at the same pace. Don't be fooled into believing that the theoretical best fuel economy the car is capable of will be what you always get. It won't.

Also, be aware that U.K. gallon is larger than a U.S. gallon, so fuel consumption numbers are not directly comparable. You need to do a conversion.

I would say about 15 average, but that just could be my driving style too...

15-20l/100Km driving in the city.

And perhaps to help all these numbers make some sense;

8 litres per 100 kilometres is near enough 30 miles per gallon in the U.S. and near enough 35 miles per gallon in the U.K.

I very much doubt a 924 Turbo, driven as one normally drives a 924 Turbo, would get those kind of numbers anywhere except on a very straight, flat highway at a very constant speed.

Get heavy on the loud pedal (as if you wouldn't, it's a turbocharged Porsche...) and these things can drink dino juice at a pretty impressive rate. Maybe not in the same league as a 454 at full noise, but impressive nonetheless.

Mine seems to operate at high RPMs/WOT quite a bit. The mileage is not that great.

There is no elevation in a range of 200Km north/south/east, and about 1000km west for me
When i want to get from A to B i just do that within legal speed limits.
Plus...giving the fact that most cars here are diesels...i dont have to work the loud pedal that much

on a short note...i drive slow and within legal limits most of the time
i even drive slow in my diesel VW, i get 5.7L / 100Km in town thats nearly 50 UK mpg and 41 US mpg.
living in the plains has its advantages.

With my turbocharged and EFI'ed 924 I get around 7-8 l/100 km when driving at the highway around 100-110 kph and few passings.

Can't see how would CIS equipped 931 get anywhere near those figures, my 924 with CIS got around 9l /100 km fuel mileage.

The manual says ~6.6L/100km at 90km/h and 8.1L driving at 120km/h for the NA and slightly BETTER for the turbo.

i've done two ~4000km trips with it and a few 500-1000 trips. ofcourse the longer trips got me better mileage...but its still well under 9L/100km

I stand by my affirmation, if tuned well these cars will do what the manual says they do.

Figures like 8l/100km is absolutely reachable in an s2 driving carefully on the highway. I have never had the patience to drive my 931 slow enough to get good figures, at about 135km/h GPS its about 9l/100km (feels like the consumption got worse on the highway with the change to s1 turbo on the s2 engine). At the track something like 35l/100km

With a low power Us version this should easily be reachable.

My n/a did 7.3/100 doing about 130 on the speedo for 6 hours.

yes, mine is an S2.
Cédric, believe me, when you drive for 8-12 hours on the highways you get tired of speeding and just cruise and enjoy the ride

The S2 is much more economical when driven in a less agressive manner owing to the DITC
