Can you start threading the nut before you have the two parts seated? I had to do this for a couple of the Stage8 flange nuts on the stock 931 exhaust setup... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Machine down the flange (nut side) to make it thinner and use a shorter stud? _________________ Toofah King Bad

"finesse" the adapter, two options for that, big hammer option, or machining/rewelding option. I'd probably try fitting a regular bolt first though, bolt+safety wire may work. Of course that is in addition to the suggestion ideola already made.

I tried to start threading a nut on before the two parts are seated dan, but there really isn't enough room to even spin the nut!
I'll probably end up grinding it down a bit and do the above suggestion.
I'd expect it to be a tight fit, but not quite this bad. Seems like an eBay quality piece would have this issue, not a "high quality" piece.
I did email the vendor to see if it is supposed to be quite this close or what their suggestion was - see if I even hear back.
It is a very high quality piece though.. V-band works great.
Also you can see in the picture I used a bolt to mount the turbo inlet to the manifold. Turns out that hole is tapped just a hair out of square, so the longer stud points 'outward' too much. I'll probably end up drilling the turbo exhaust side a tad and just tapping the turbo down gently.
on-ward!
Oh yeah I also have most of the wiring harness lined up in the proper area..
Still don't have a headlight set up tho! haha _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Take a punch, and drift the area in ever so slightly to fit that nut in there.
Dont run it without that nut. _________________ 3 928s, |

Anyone know the size of the bolts that attach the clutch slave cylinder to the bellhousing? _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Hey Jason, forgot about ya, but I have some of these bolts. If you still need a couple, let me know. Paul is coming over for the weekend, so if you have absolutely nothing to do, come on over! See if you can borrow something for the 931 block (bring the starter if you can), and the three of us can hoist it in the car. Also, pizza/beer is real cheap this weekend, hint, hint. We'll probably flog the cars on the twisties on Saturday, a seat is available.

Dave, I don't think I'll be able to do anything this weekend, but maybe. Trying to spend the weekend putting my car back together! It would be cool to get out that way for pizza and beer!
There is an auto-x in town on Sunday and my Jeep has some rear dif noise so I don't want to put any unneeded miles on the Jeep. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

What kind of jeep? Grand Cherokee? If so, check the pinion bearings, they might be in need of changing. Common problem with these. Pull the cover and take a peek. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Its a standard Cherokee, 97.
I've read some about the pinion bearings, but this is a constant noise. Everyone says the pinion bearing will make noise under acceleration and be quiet while coasting.
The shitty part is (from my understanding), the wheel bearing design for the standard cherokee means I probably need new axle shafts as the wheel bearing supports the axle! Stupid. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Checking napaonline.com, looks like a standard axle shaft with a bearing and seal. The bearing is pressed on the shaft, have done many of these back in the day. Have a 30 ton press if needed. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

The fronts are a unit-bearing, but I think the rear should have a backing plate, with four bolts attaching it to the axle housing. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Nice.. So I still have to remove the axles but at least I don't have to purchase new ones hopefully. You are referring to the regular Cherokee and not the Grand Cherokee, correct?
OT- I am getting closer to having the porsche fixed. Doing some wiring tonight. I have a new slim fan setup. Just waiting for my BOV. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |
